Too close for comfort?
Aren’t they gorgeous ?
If I could have smuggled them on the plane home I would have.
These are just two of the many hundreds of stray cats on the Greek island of Hydra.
To say that I was astonished to see just how dire the stray cat situation is over there would be an understatment. I’ve never ever seen so many stray cats.
Not only that but no-one is caring for them. The very best I saw was a few odd bags of fish bones left out for them to scavenge.
Now yes, that is better than nothing but to my mind it is not enough. It highlighted that although just about tolerated they are not considered to be a part of the community, even less they are treated as a nuisance.
These cats are unloved, uncared for and diseased.
The power of community
I simply don’t understand that no-one is prepared to take any responsibility for this. Maybe its a cultural difference ?
Still, it is obvious there is a problem so wouldn’t you think that even if they don’t love cats the way I or we do in the UK they would at least try to prevent the population increasing anymore ?
Isn’t there some kind of basic community instinct involved here ?
It is almost as if they are living with, on top of this – too involved, so used to it that now they can’t see that there is a problem and if they work together it can be solved.
What does it take ? Another persons point of view ? A fresh perspective ?
Get in Touch
Maybe you find yourself so involved in a situation that you cant see the wood for the trees ?
This is just one of the things that I do as a Life Coach – I can help you to see a fresh view and then support you to take action.
